LEITWIND belongs to the group of LEITNER TECHNOLOGIES. The latter is active worldwide on the markets for ropeways, snow groomers, urban transportation systems and wind energy – four fields of technology which seem very different at first sight but on closer inspection have much in common in terms of core competence.
Technical expertise and consistent investments in research and development lead to the construction of the first wind turbine in 2003. Through the use of synergies with its ropeway technology know-how, the company conceptualized a wind turbine based on the principle of a direct drive generator.
Since its establishment, LEITWIND has pursued innovation driven by a precise vision: to make effective and technologically advanced wind turbine generators which can efficiently produce clean energy while ensuring highest levels of reliability.
Through the production sites in Italy, Austria and India, the company can react according to the market needs.
In 2010, the company has more than doubled its turnover with respect to the previous year. This successful result, achieved through its more than 500 skilled employees around the world, is accompanied by a € 4 million investment in research and development. This is a clear indication of the company’s special devotion to innovation and quality.
More than 100 wind turbine generators installed by the end of 2010. This prestigious goal was successfully achieved by LEITWIND with the construction of wind farms in Europe, Asia and America and a total installed capacity of 138 MW.
